June 11, 2012: Hiked the horse’s head this morning. Two hours, 3.25 miles, the mosquitos will move you right along. Start at Coplon Road, pick up the south rim going east till you get down to the creek by the thruway. Crossing was easy today, the red trail crossing is clearly indicated, go to your left about 50 ft to find the trail continuing on the other side.
***Take the north rim trail back west, you’ll come to a “Coplon Road” sign, take that trail down to the creek and to the right. The trail veers away from the creek and you’ll come to the stone wall. I like to go through the gate in the stone wall and turn right, go all the way to the end of the wall and cross above that big fallen tree. You go across the Isle of Scree and cross again on the other side. The trail up to Coplon Road will be to your left. —Ed

Ed I love reading about your travels through the Plotter Kill. We are plagued with mosquitoes, tics and deer tics…makes for pleasant planting and gardening.
Wow Sue, I hope it gets better soon. My sympathies. What’s your favorite repellant?
Mine is long baggy pants, light loose cotton shirt and mosquito net. Duct tape over the sleeve openings during black fly season. A little back woods OFF if I feel like smelling good.
