August 21, 2011: If there is a picnic area at the preserve, this is it. Just back a bit from the top of the lower (second) falls, it features a stone table and seats, a little waterfall and wading pool. About a half mile easy walk from the Mariaville Road trailhead, no problem lugging the provisions. ***Crazy weather today, it clouded up fast. We didn’t get drenched, but there were some spectacular thunderclaps. Still quite a bit of water in the stream from recent rains, not to mention all the rain we had that afternoon. —Ed Atkeson

Funny how you posted me about the loop route and I realized that we had seen each other that morning as you went by. I thought about you guys as we were running for our lives back to the cars in the thunderstorm. A fun day.
