The picnic area

August 21, 2011: If there is a picnic area at the preserve, this is it. Just back a bit from the top of the lower (second) falls, it features a stone table and seats, a little waterfall and wading pool. About a half mile easy walk from the Mariaville Road trailhead, no problem lugging the provisions. Scott Meyer, Julia Rosen, Charlie Braverman, and Cathy Frank, I’m standing in the water taking pictures.
***Crazy weather today, it clouded up fast. We didn’t get drenched, but there were some spectacular thunderclaps. Still quite a bit of water in the stream from recent rains, not to mention all the rain we had that afternoon. —Ed Atkeson

It was a joy to see you guys yesterday enjoying all that the preserve has to offer. I know my girlfriend and I will be planning a picnic there soon, maybe we will see you and your friends there!

    Hi Mike,
Funny how you posted me about the loop route and I realized that we had seen each other that morning as you went by. I thought about you guys as we were running for our lives back to the cars in the thunderstorm. A fun day.
